6-Day Tanzania Safari

Six days. Three iconic destinations. A lifetime of memories. This carefully crafted Tanzania safari takes you through the very heart of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife circuit — from the forest-fringed shores of Lake Manyara and the endless golden plains of the Serengeti, to the breathtaking natural amphitheater of the Ngorongoro Crater. Every detail is handled, every moment considered, so all you have to do is arrive, look out across the savannah, and let Tanzania do the rest.

Why Choose This Safari

This itinerary is designed for travelers who want the full northern Tanzania experience without compromise. You’ll spend meaningful time in each ecosystem rather than passing through, guided by an expert naturalist who reads the bush like a map. The Serengeti gets two full days — enough time to follow a pride of lions at dawn or witness a cheetah hunt unfold across the plains. The Ngorongoro Crater descent remains one of the most dramatic game-viewing experiences on earth, and Lake Manyara’s compact, diverse landscape consistently surprises even seasoned safari-goers. This is Tanzania, done properly.

The Journey

From Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater, this 6-day Tanzania safari covers the best of the northern circuit – Serengeti, Lake Manyara & the Big Five. An unforgettable African journey awaits.

Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha

Your Tanzania adventure begins the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our representative will be waiting to welcome you. A smooth transfer takes you to your hotel in Arusha — a lively city nestled at the foot of Mount Meru and the perfect staging point for the wilderness ahead. Settle in, breathe the highland air, and let the anticipation build.

Day 2 — Lake Manyara National Park

Your first full day in the field begins with a drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a jewel set against the dramatic wall of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Don’t let its size fool you — this park punches well above its weight. Dense groundwater forests give way to open acacia woodlands and the shimmering alkaline lake beyond, where thousands of flamingos paint the water pink. Keep your eyes on the trees; Manyara’s lion prides are famously arboreal, and elephant encounters here are remarkably intimate.

Day 3 — Into the Serengeti

Today you cross into legend. The journey to Serengeti National Park takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with the opportunity to stop at Olduvai Gorge — the cradle of human civilization. As the road opens up and the acacia woodland thins into open grassland, the scale of the Serengeti begins to reveal itself. An afternoon game drive introduces you to this UNESCO World Heritage Site and its extraordinary cast of wildlife.

Day 4 — Full Day, Serengeti

A full day in the Serengeti is a rare luxury, and every hour of it counts. Morning drives bring predator activity — lions returning from a night hunt, leopards still draped across their branches, cheetahs scanning the plains. Midday offers quieter moments: oxpeckers on buffalo, lilac-breasted rollers on dead wood, a herd of elephant moving in silence. If the Great Migration is in season, the spectacle is simply incomparable.

Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater

An early start rewards you with the Ngorongoro Crater largely to yourself. Descending 600 metres into this ancient volcanic caldera feels like entering another world — one sheltered from the outside, teeming with approximately 25,000 large animals in a self-contained ecosystem. The Big Five all reside here permanently, including one of Africa’s most viable populations of the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor as the drama of African wildlife unfolds around you.

Day 6 — Departure

After a final leisurely breakfast, you’ll check out and begin the transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Depending on your flight, there may be time for a brief morning drive or a visit to a local Arusha market. As the airport comes into view, you’ll leave carrying something no luggage hold can contain — the enduring memory of Tanzania’s wild, untamed north.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

June to October offers peak wildlife viewing during the dry season when animals gather around water sources. December to March is ideal for witnessing the wildebeest calving season with newborn animals and lush green landscapes. April-May (long rains) provides lower prices, fewer crowds, and excellent birdwatching opportunities.

We recommend a minimum of 5-7 days to experience Tanzania's main highlights including Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire. Shorter 3-4 day safaris cover essential parks efficiently, while 7-10 days allows for deeper exploration. Extended safaris of 12+ days can include Zanzibar beach extensions or southern Tanzania circuits.

Yes, most nationalities require a visa for Tanzania. Citizens from the US, UK, EU, and many other countries can obtain a single-entry tourist visa on arrival (USD $50-100) or apply online in advance through the e-visa system. Ensure your passport has at least 6 months validity from your entry date.

The 7-day Shira Route achieves approximately 75-80% summit success rates. The Day 3 acclimatization strategy (ascending to Lava Tower at 4,630m before descending to Barranco at 3,960m) significantly improves success odds. While slightly lower than extended routes like Lemosho (85-90%) or Northern Circuit (95%+), proper physical preparation and adherence to your guide's pace dramatically increase individual probability. The high starting elevation affects some climbers, making pre-trek acclimatization essential.

Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing in khaki, beige, olive, or brown made from breathable fabrics. Bring layers for cool early mornings, long-sleeved shirts for sun protection, comfortable closed-toe shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. Avoid bright colors, white, and camouflage patterns which are restricted in some areas.

Absolutely! All our Tanzania safari packages are fully customizable to match your preferences, budget, and schedule. We can adjust park selections, accommodation levels (budget to luxury), safari duration, activity types, and add extensions like Zanzibar beaches or mountain trekking to create your ideal African adventure
